About MET

The Marlow Education Trust was founded to support education in schools in the local community in and around Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

The vision of the Marlow Education Trust is to develop a group of schools in Marlow and the surrounding area which work together to deliver the best outcomes for each pupil, whatever their ability, background or needs.

The Trust will seek to develop a culture of high aspiration, support, and challenge for all individuals, both staff and pupils.

The target is for every school to be outstanding and autonomous, each serving their communities and working and sharing with others.

The focus is that each pupil should achieve their individual aspirational goals – academically, vocationally, in sport, the arts and in extra-curricular activities and that each pupil should grow in confidence and self-esteem.

The core values of the Trust are:

Our Schools

The Marlow Education Trust currently includes two schools, Beechview Primary Academy in High Wycombe, and Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School in Marlow.  We are currently working closely with two other local schools, who have indicated an interest in joining the MAT in September 2024.  The Trust would be very happy to talk to other interested schools which are located in our local area, ideally within 10 kilometres of Marlow.

A welcome from our CEO

"Welcome to the Marlow Education Trust.  We are a small locally based Multi Academy Trust, founded in 2017 to serve and support the needs of children in schools in Marlow and the surrounding area.  We remain committed to that original vision, and are keen to expand our work with any school in the area.  Our vision is locally based, and also founded on the belief that every school has a unique culture and ethos, so that the best way of improving standards of education and care is to work collaboratively to strengthen each school's individual development.  We also believe that every child is valuable, and work to ensure that each individual receives the best possible support and care to help them develop.

As a Multi Academy Trust we are committed to the professional development of all our staff, and strive to provide the highest quality CPD and career development opportunities.  Our schools are friendly and welcoming places to visit, learn and work.  We have a talented central team of professionals who work to support our partner schools across a wide range of areas, including Finance, Health and Safety, HR, Safeguarding, Facilities and Estates and a growing list of school improvement services.  We would be delighted to talk with you if you are interested in joining us, either as an employee or as a partner school within the Trust.

Our Vision and Values Statement

The vision of the Marlow Education Trust is to develop a group of schools in Marlow and the surrounding area which work together to deliver the best outcomes for each pupil, whatever their ability, background or needs.

The core values of the Trust are:

·      quality relationships based on trust and respect

·      commitment to the individual

·      commitment by all to being the best that they can be

·      commitment to being open and willing to share with others and to learn from them.

The Trust will:

·      support all Academies on their journeys towards Outstanding

·      set challenging targets for each school

·      provide stability in governance and leadership

·      centralise business, IT, HR and estate management functions, where appropriate, to deliver efficiencies, best practice and savings.

The Trust and the schools will work together to:

·      Bring benefits to curriculum and learning:

o   by taking certain business and admin functions centrally, Local Governing Bodies and Senior Management Teams will have more time to focus on standards and attainment.

o   identify and share the best applications of teaching practice and research, including the establishment of “learning improvement” teams and the “best-in-class” use of data to inform decision making and monitoring of progress.

o   improve the primary to secondary transition, including teaching and learning

o   provide a safe and high quality learning environment

·      Realise the benefits of collaboration:

o   identify and cross-fertilise excellencies and best practice

o   provide a forum where “issues” can be tackled strategically across primary and secondary schools.

o   as a result of savings, it could be possible to recruit teachers, specialist staff, counsellors, etc to deliver across numbers of schools, providing services that could not be afforded by a school acting alone.

o   deliver a programme of staff training and development which, taken together with opportunities for leadership in inter-school improvement groups, will aid staff retention and recruitment.

o   by sharing contacts, experience and knowledge (in and out of the schools), provide the best guidance and support to each pupil in identifying and achieving their first choice targets when they leave school for further education, training or work.

o   provide opportunities for student leadership to support the learning of others, bringing benefits to both secondary and primary students

Working together to be the best that we can be for each individual pupil.

As a Trust we exist to support the education and life opportunities for children in our community.  We are proud of the role we play in supporting our member schools in driving up standards in education and pupil welfare.  We believe in the importance of every child, and strive to ensure that every child gets the support they need to thrive and develop as individuals.  We also believe that this is best achieved by supporting each of our member schools to develop and strengthen its own individual culture and ethos. We welcome applications from individuals who feel that they can contribute to this vision.  We also welcome applications from schools in our local community who would like to find out more about our vision and ethos.
